Six Women Named to Dean Positions

GliedSherry A. Glied has been selected as the next dean of the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. From 1998 to 2010, she was chair of the department of health policy and management at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. She has been serving as assistant secretary for planning and evaluation for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She will begin her new role on August 1.

Dr. Glied is a graduate of Yale University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.

debbie-storrs-Debbie Storrs was appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Dakota. She has been serving as associate dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences and as a professor of sociology at the University of Idaho.

Dr. Storrs has been on the faculty at the University of Idaho since 1997. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska at Anchorage and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Oregon.

Cleary-KellyKelly Cleary was named the inaugural dean for career and professional advising at Haverford College in suburban Philadelphia. Since 2007, she been the director of the career services unit for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.

Cleary is a graduate of Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in community counseling from George Washington University and is working toward an educational doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

KKrauseCatherine Krause was named dean of the Honors College and dean of University College at the University of New Mexico. She is a professor of economics at the university and has been serving as interim dean. She joined the university’s faculty in 1996.

Professor Krause is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Stanford Law School. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin.

Mimi-FentonMimi Fenton was promoted to dean of the Graduate School at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis since July 2012. She is a professor of English at the university and previously was associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Professor Fenton holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the University of Wyoming. She earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of Kentucky.

BrookKathleeenKathleen Brook was appointed interim dean of the College of Business at New Mexico State University. She is the associate dean for academics and an associate professor of economics at the College of Business.

Dr. Brook is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she majored in mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
