The University of Southern California has announced that Erica Muhl will be the next dean of Roski School of Fine Arts at the university. She has been serving as interim dean since last September. She also serves as professor of composition in the Thornton School of Music at USC and is chair of the University Committee on Academic Review. Previously, Dr. Muhl was the associate dean for faculty affairs at the Thornton School of Music.
Elizabeth Garrett, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the university, said in a statement, “The strength of Dr. Muhl’s artistic background, coupled with her proven skills in academic leadership, make her uniquely qualified to lead the Roski School. In addition to a successful career as a performing and creative artist, she also brings to the position extensive experience across the arts and humanities in the areas of tenure, faculty development and mentoring, transformative faculty hires, strategic vision and academic excellence.”
Professor Muhl holds a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Southern California.
