Sarah Bruhn, Jessica Ghai, and Sara Harvel recently joined the faculty of the teaching & learning department in the Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University. They will contribute teaching and scholarship across areas including inclusive education, behavioral science, teacher education, and educational access.
Sarah Bruhn explores the impact of public policies on immigrant families in geographically specific ways and how that shapes their opportunities for inclusion in the United States. She is the author of a forthcoming book, Holding On to Home: Immigrant Women and the Promise of Sanctuary (University of California Press, 2026).
Dr. Bruhn is a graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she majored in American culture. She holds a master’s degree in teaching from American University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Bruhn earned a master’s degree in school leadership and a Ph.D. in education from Harvard University.
Jessica Ghai focuses on learning, behavior change, and supporting individuals with complex needs in educational settings. A board-certified and licensed behavior analyst and special education teacher, Dr. Ghai has nearly two decades of experience across schools, hospitals, and home settings.
Dr. Ghai is a graduate of Ohio State University, where she majored in environmental education. She holds a master’s degree in education from Boston College and a doctorate in education from Boston University.
Sara Harvel examines teacher education, social studies education, human rights education, and professional development. She strives to improve educational access and outcomes for all students, especially multilingual learners and newly arrived immigrant and refugee students.
Dr. Harvel is a graduate of Cedarview University in Ohio, where she majored in social studies teacher education. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Connecticut.
