
Among these efforts include the closure of numerous women’s and gender studies programs at institutions across the country, including East Carolina University, New College of Florida, Texas A&M University, Towson University in Maryland, the University of California, Santa Cruz, the University of Iowa, the University of Toledo, and Wichita State University in Kansas. According to the DOE, these programs lacked “workforce-benefiting skills.”
In addition to these program cuts, the DOE release also praises at least 20 university-affiliated hospitals that have ended hormone therapies, gender transition surgeries, or transgender care for minors.
