Camille Davidson Appointed President of Mitchell Hamline School of Law

Camille Davidson has been named president and dean of Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She will be the school’s third president, and the first Black woman to hold the position.

In 2015, William Mitchell College of Law and Hamline University School of Law merged into one institution named Mitchell Hamline School of Law. The school enrolls roughly 1,200 law students, 59 percent of whom are women.

Davidson currently serves as a professor and dean of the Southern Illinois University School of Law, where she has taught for the past four years. Prior to her current role, she served as a course developer and instructor for the Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She previously spent 10 years with the Charlotte School of Law in North Carolina, where she served as a professor and associate dean for academic affairs and faculty development. Outside of her career with higher education, Davidson has over three decades of legal experience, including positions with the District of Columbia Superior Court, the United States House of Representatives, and the North Carolina Judicial Branch.

Davidson graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi where she majored in business administration. She holds a juris doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center in the District of Columbia.
