Gina S. Brown Received the National Humanism in Medicine Medal From the Arnold P. Gold Foundation

Gina S. Brown, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Sciences at Howard University in Washington, D.C., received the National Humanism in Medicine Medal from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. Dr. Brown was recognized for her leadership and achievements in healthcare, government, and for her positive impact on society.

“I am extremely honored that my work is being recognized with such a prestigious award,” Dr. Brown says. “This award serves as motivation to continue the work that I am doing and help the next generation of leaders in the field of medicine and nursing.”

Dr. Brown was named dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Sciences at Howard in 2015. Earlier in her career, she was the inaugural dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and dean of the School of Health Professions, Science, and Wellness at what is now Washington Adventist University.

Dr. Brown holds bachelor’s degrees in nursing and biology from what is now Oakwood University in Alabama. She holds a master’s degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University and a Ph.D. degree in nursing administration with a focus on policy and ethics from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
