The College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, Names Its Next President

Glynis Fitzgerald has been selected as the eighth president of the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. She will take office on July 1.

The College of Saint Mary is a women’s college that enrolls just over 600 undergraduate students and nearly 400 graduate students.

“I am humbled and honored by the opportunity I’ve been given to join the College of Saint Mary community. I look forward to working alongside the college’s talented and dedicated faculty, staff, administrators, and friends to accomplish our collective goal of boldly creating new opportunities for more women,” Dr. Fitzgerald said. “I am drawn to the college’s enduring commitment to the liberal arts and innovation in the professions that prepares today’s students to meet tomorrow’s needs.”

For the past three years, Dr. Fitzgerald has served as senior vice president and provost at Alvernia University, a private Catholic institution in Reading, Pennsylvania. Earlier, Dr. Fitzgerald served as associate vice president of academic affairs and dean for the school of graduate studies at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.

Dr. Fitzgerald has a bachelor’s degree in speech communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in theater from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in communication from the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York System.
