Sabrina Ezzell Appointed Chancellor of the Gallup Campus of the University of New Mexico

Sabrina Ezzell was appointed chancellor of the Gallup campus of the University of New Mexico. She will take office on January 1.

“I am very honored to be selected as the UNM-Gallup Chancellor,” Dr. Ezzell said. “The leadership role supports collaboration with so many people who care about our community. I look forward to working with UNM-Gallup faculty and staff to identify ways to further support student success. I also look forward to working with community members to increase opportunities for our graduates. UNM-Gallup is a wonderful resource and I appreciate being able to work with my colleagues and community to provide essential education and professional opportunities.”

The Gallup campus, a two-year educational institution located in the northwest corner of New Mexico, enrolls about 2,000 students. Women make up 64 percent of the student body.

Dr. Ezzell has served as interim chancellor since July 2022. Prior to her appointment as interim chancellor, she was an associate professor and chair of the education, health, and human services department. She began her academic career in 2003 as a clinical instructor in the nursing program at the University of New Mexico-Gallup after a career as a registered nurse.

Dr. Ezzell earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Eastern New Mexico University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of New Mexico, a master’s degree in nursing from Northern Arizona University, and an educational doctorate from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
