In Memoriam: Constance Jordan Wilson, 1951-2022

Constance J. Wilson, a longtime faculty member at Alabama A&M University, died earlier this month. She was 71 years old.
Dr. Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1973. She held a master’s degree in urban and regional planning degree from Fisk University in Nashville and a Ph.D. in political science with minor areas in public administration and planning from the University of Alabama.
Dr. Wilson joined the faculty at Alabama A&M University in 1979, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in urban and regional planning. In 1988, Professor Wilson became head of the department of community planning and urban studies, leading the unit through two successful program reviews for re-accreditation by the Planning Accreditation Board. In 1996, she became director of the Center for Urban and Rural Research.
Dr. Wilson also played an integral role throughout the inception and formative years of the Virginia Caples Lifelong Learning Institute at Alabama A&M University. She served as co-director of the institute from 2017 to 2019.
