Five Women Who Have Been Hired to Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Jessie Minton has been appointed vice chancellor for technology and chief information officer at Washington University in St. Louis, effective April 15. She currently serves as vice provost and chief information officer at the University of Oregon. Earlier, Minton served as director of business operations and technical support services at Oregon Health & Science University.

A graduate of the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, Minton also earned a master’s degree in management and organizational leadership from Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon.

Samira Malik is the new executive director of donor strategy and special initiatives at Northeastern University in Boston. Malik recently served as the associate vice president of advancement services and operation at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.

Malik earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. She also holds a master’s degree in data analytics from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Kimberly Reilly was named vice president of enrollment management and marketing at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine. Prior to joining Maine Maritime Academy, Reilly served in enrollment services leadership roles at La Salle University, Nova Southeastern University, and Southern New Hampshire University.

Reilly earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is currently completing an educational doctorate the University of New England.

Youndy C. Cook is the new vice president and general counsel at the University of Central Florida. She joined the Office of the General Counsel at the university in April 2002, first serving as associate general counsel and then as deputy general counsel. Since 2020, she has served as interim general counsel.

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Cook is a summa cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She earned a juris doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law.

Cindy Torstveit has been named the next associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has been serving as the interim executive director for physical plant at the university. Earlier, she was the director of the Department of Administration’s Division of Facilities Management for the state of Wisconsin.

Torstveit graduated from the School of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a bachelor’s degree in interior design.
