Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, Names Katricia Pierson as Its Next President

The board of trustees of Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, has appointed Katricia Pierson as the next president of the college. She will begin her new role on January 13, 2022.

Crowder College is a two-year, public community college located in the southwest corner of Missouri, not far from the border with Oklahoma. The college enrolls nearly 4,200 students according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of education. Women make up 64 percent of the student body.

Since 2017, Dr. Pierson has been serving as the first woman president of East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She previously served as provost and vice president of academic affairs at East Central University. Earlier in her career, Dr. Pierson served on the faculty at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, and at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky.

Dr. Pierson is a Choctaw tribal member who grew up in Oklahoma. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English secondary education from the University of Wyoming. Dr. Pierson earned a master’s degree in English and a Ph.D. in English language and literature from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
