A Half Dozen Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Angela Poole has been named vice president for administration and finance at Talladega College in Alabama. She had been serving as a managing consultant for AMP Expert Solutions. Earlier, Dr. Poole served as senior vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Dr. Poole earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Ph.D. in educational leadership at Florida A&M University. She also holds a master’s degree in accountancy from Florida State University.

Karissa Hoffman was appointed director of planned giving and the Endowed Scholarship Program at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Previously she was the associate director of development for the College of Engineering at Wichita State University.

Hoffman is a summa cum laude graduate of Central Christian College of Kansas, where she majored in organizational leadership.

Deborah Alston is the new senior director for alumni relations and advancement services at Virginia Union Univerity. Alston has been an employee at the university for more than 33 years. She has held the role of director of prospect research and gifts management since 2010.

Alston is a graduate of Virginia Union University, where she majored in accounting.

Shirelle Briscoe was appointed assistant vice president for transfer and general student advocacy at Bowie State University in Maryland. She has been serving as assistant vice president for undergraduate studies in the Division of Academic Affairs. She was previously a member of the faculty of the department of communications and the department of teaching, learning & professional development.

Dr. Briscoe holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in organizational communication from Bowie State Univerity. She earned an educational doctorate at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Jessica Borusky was named director of art galleries at the University of North Florida. She had been serving as a lecturer in art and art history at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Borusky is a graduate of New College of Florida. She earned a master of fine arts degree from Tufts University in Massachusetts.

Brooke H. Jones has been named chief investment officer at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She was managing director of investments for the in-house investment team at the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Jones is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she double majored in business and international studies. She holds an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
