The New Provost at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina

Monica Baloga was appointed provost at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, effective February 1. The college enrolls nearly 2,400 undergraduate students and several dozen graduate students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 56 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Limestone family,” Dr. Baloga said. “During my visit, I was so impressed with the beautiful and charming campus. I received such a warm greeting from the entire campus community, and it was immediately clear that there is such a positive energy there. The people were so incredibly nice and open. That really sealed the deal for me.”

Dr. Baloga has been serving as senior vice president for academic administration at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. She was served on the staff there for the past 23 years. Dr. Bolga began her career at the Florida Institute of Technology in 1996 as an assistant professor of chemistry. In 2012, she was appointed dean of graduate programs.

A native of Camden, Tennessee, Dr. Baloga is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois.
