The New President of Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale

Anne M. Kress is the new president of Northern Virginia Community College, headquartered in Annandale, Virginia. She took office at the beginning of the year.

Northern Virginia Community College. located southwest of Washington, D.C., enrolls a very diverse student body of more than 50,000 students. Women make up 52 percent of all enrollments. The community college operates six campuses in Alexandria, Annandale, Loudoun, Manassas, Springfield and Woodbridge.

Dr. Kress has 30 years of community college experience. Most recently, she served as the president of Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. Earlier, she spent 20 years at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. She began her career there as an adjunct lecturer in English and rose through the ranks to become provost and vice president for academic affairs.

President Kress holds two bachelor’s degrees, a master’s degree, and a doctorate, all from the University of Florida.
