Emily Barnes Chosen to Lead Cleary University in Howell, Michigan

Emily Barnes has been selected to serve as interim president of Cleary University in Howell, Michigan. She will take on this new role on May 8, when current President Dr. Jayson Boyers resigns to become president of Rosemont College in Pennsylvania.
Cleary University enrolls just under 500 undergraduate students and just over 100 graduate students according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 48 percent of the student body.
Dr. Barnes has been serving as provost and chief academic officer at the university since July 2019. She is the first woman to serve as provost at the university. Earlier, she was dean of instruction and learning resources at the university.
Dr. Barnes is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington. She holds a master of library and information science degree and a master’s degree in human-computer interaction from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She earned a doctorate in higher educational administration at Maryville University in St. Louis.
