In Memoriam: Faye Duffy, 1958-2019

Faye M. Duffy, associate director of admissions at the University of Delaware, passed away on August 9, 2019. She was 61 years old.

Duffy joined the admissions staff at the University of Delaware in 1986. Over the course of her 33-year career, she organized a variety of admissions programs including the summer event, Delaworld (now known as NSO), and various prospective student open houses. She was also responsible for revamping the transfer admissions process, resulting in a large increase in transfer enrollments.

“This is a devastating loss to all of us who knew and worked with Faye,” said Douglas Zander, executive director of the university’s Office of Admissions. “Faye was a mighty contributor to UD who believed deeply in the mission, purpose, and value of this institution. Faye was one to speak her mind, and she was also generous with her wonderful and sharp sense of humor. We already miss her deeply.”

Duffy was a graduate of the University of Delaware where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication.
