Rebecca Rowley Named President of Santa Fe Community College in New Mexico

Rebecca K. “Becky” Rowley has been named president of Santa Fe Community College in New Mexico. The school enrolls over 4,500 students, 60 percent of whom are women.

Since 2011, Dr. Rowley has served as president of Clovis Community College in New Mexico. During her tenure as president, she has improved the college’s persistence rate from 34 percent to 84 percent. She has also added new programs of study including a physical therapy assistant program. She assumed the presidency after serving the college as executive vice president of academics and student services and as an English faculty member. Her areas of expertise include leading various units of academics, student services, finance, and informational technology.

Dr. Rowley has served as chair of the New Mexico Independent Community Colleges since 2015. She has served on the New Mexico State Workforce Development Board as well as the Eastern Area Workforce Development Board. She has also served as a member of the New Mexico Higher Education Strategic Planning Committee and the New Mexico Higher Education Governance Committee where she co-chaired the legislative subcommittee.

“I am honored to be selected for the position, and I look forward to working with the board, faculty, staff and students of SFCC,” said Dr. Rowley. “I am proud to be part of this great college!”

Dr. Rowley is a graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where she double-majored in English and Latin and minored in political science. She holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in English from the University of New Mexico.
