The First Woman President of the University of Rochester

Sarah Mangelsdorf was appointed president of the University of Rochester in New York. When she takes office in the summer of 2019, she will be the first woman to serve as president of the university.
The University of Rochester enrolls about 6,500 undergraduate students and more than 5,000 graduate students. Women make up 50 percent of the undergraduate student body.
Dr. Mangelsdorf currently serves as a professor of psychology and provost at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before she joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Mangelsdorf was dean of the Weinberg College of the Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Earlier, she was the first woman dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Mangelsdorf is a native of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio and holds A Ph.D. In child psychology from the University of Minnesota.
