
A native of Philadelphia, Mittleman first became a Muhlenberg College employee in 1988. Her Hillel program made the college the first liberal arts college to achieve Hillel Foundation status. In addition to her tremendous contributions to Jewish life at Muhlenberg, she was instrumental in founding the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance, the Muslim Student Association, and HIV/AIDS awareness student groups.
After a 25-year career at the institution, she retired in 2013.
