In Memoriam: Mildred Ollee, 1934-2018

Mildred Ollee, the former president of Seattle Central Community College in Washington State, passed away late last month at the age of 84. She served as president of the community college from 2003 to 2010.

Dr. Ollee’s career in higher education began in 1968 when she became a faculty member at Walla Walla Community College in Washington. In 1970, she became a counselor at Seattle Central Community College and advanced to the position of vice president of student services. She held that post from 1987 to 1995. In 1995, she became executive dean and CEO of the Cascade Campus of Portland Community College District in Oregon. Dr. Ollee served in that position until she was named president of Seattle Central Community College in 2003.

Dr. Ollee held a bachelor’s degree in education, English, and social science from Xavier University of Louisiana, a master’s degree in education from Walla Walla College, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University.
