Three New Women Deans at Westfield State University

Three women have been named as founding deans at Westfield State University in Massachusetts upon the university’s transition to a college structure.

Jennifer A. Hanselman has been named interim dean of the College of Mathematics and Sciences. She is the former chair of the biology department and has taught at the university since 2008.

Dr. Hanselman holds a bachelor’s degree in education and biology, a master’s degree in education and conservation biology, and a Ph.D. in ecology and conservation biology all from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Juline E. Mills has been named dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services. She was a professor in the College of Business at the University of New Haven.

Dr. Mills holds a master’s degree in computer education and cognitive systems from the University of North Texas and a Ph.D. in hospitality administration and management from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Emily B. Todd has been named interim dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She was chair of the department of English and has taught at the university since 1999.

Dr. Todd holds a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Amherst College in Massachuetts, a master’s degree in Scottish literature from St. Andrews University in Scotland, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota.

Caroline Attardo Genco Named the First Woman President of the University at Buffalo

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
