The New President of Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn

Claudia V. Schrader was appointed president of Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, New York. The college is a campus of the City University of New York. She will take office on September 15.

Kingsborough Community College enrolls more than 15,000 students. The campus is very diverse with Asian Americans, African Americans, Hispanics, and Whites, all making up at least 14 percent of the student body. Women make up 55 percent of the student body.

Dr. Schrader has been serving as provost and senior vice president for academic and student success at Bronx Community College. Earlier, she held executive posts at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn.

A native of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dr. Schrader is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she majored in Africana studies. She holds master’s degrees in special education and instructional practice in special education and an educational doctorate in international and transcultural studies from Columbia University.
