A Pair of Women Scholars Appointed to Provost Positions at Flagship State Universities

Latha Ramchand was appointed provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Dr. Ramchand will begin her new job on August 15.
Dr. Ramchand has been serving as dean of the College of Business at the University of Houston. Earlier, she was associate dean of programs and administration and associate dean of graduate and professional programs at the university.
Dr. Ramchand holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Bombay in India. She earned a doctorate in finance at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Libby V. Morris was named interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Georgia. Dr. Miller is the director of the Institute of Higher Education at the university and holds the Zell Miller Distinguished Professorship of Higher Education.
Dr. Morris has previously served as interim provost. From 2010 to 2013, she was vice provost for academic affairs. Dr. Morris joined the faculty at the university in 1989. She is the editor of the journal Innovative Higher Education.
Professor Morris is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in adult and higher education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
