Karrie Dixon Is the New Leader of Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina

The University of North Carolina System has named Karrie Dixon as interim chancellor of Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. The university, located on the northeastern coast of North Carolina, enrolls about 1,300 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 56 percent of the undergraduate student body.
Dr. Dixon has been a senior administrator for the University of North Carolina System since 2008. Most recently, she has served as vice president for academic and student affairs overseeing the 17 campuses of the university system. Dr. Dixon is also an adjunct professor in the department of leadership, policy, adult, and higher education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Dr. Dixon earned a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate from North Carolina State University. She also holds a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
