Two Women Appointed to Dean Posts at State Universities

Dawn Bragg is the new dean of medical student affairs at the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Dr. Bragg had been serving as a professor of pediatrics and associate dean for student inclusion and academic enrichment at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She first joined the staff at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1994.

A native of Jamaica, Dr. Bragg is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she majored in animal science. She holds a master degree and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Illinois.

Kristi Palmer was appointed interim dean of the University Library at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis, effective April 9. Since 2014, she has served as associate dean for digital scholarship at the university. Palmer joined the staff at the university in 2003 as an assistant librarian.

Palmer holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She earned a master of library and information science degree from Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis.

Dr. Geneco comes to her new role from Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she has served as provost for the past four years. She is slated become the University at Buffalo's first woman president on August 10.
