Delia Graff Fara, a professor of philosophy at Princeton University, died at home late last month. She was 48 years old.
Professor Fara taught undergraduate and graduate courses on logic, semantics, and the philosophy of language. She was co-editor of The Routledge Companion to the Philosophy of Language (Routledge, 2012).
Dr. Fara was a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in philosophy and government. She held a Ph.D. in philosophy with a minor in linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Professor Fara joined the faculty at Princeton in 1997. After four years, she left to join the faculty at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Dr. Fara returned to Princeton in 2005 as an associate professor and was promoted to full professor in 2012.
Michael Smith, chair of the philosophy department at Princeton said that “Delia was an eminent scholar, an extremely conscientious teacher, and an exemplary department citizen.”
