Harvard University recently issued a new report on the diversity and gender makeup of its faculty. In 2017, women made up 25.8 percent of all tenured faculty and 42 percent of all tenure-track faculty. In 2008, women were 20.5 percent of all tenured faculty and 36.7 percent of all tenure-track faculty. So some progress is being made in gender diversity of the Harvard faculty.
It should be noted that in 2017, 60.8 percent of all tenured faculty members at Harvard are White men. This is down from 69 percent in 2008.
Women are 34 percent of the tenured faculty in the arts and humanities but only 16 percent in the natural sciences. Women make up less than one quarter of the tenured faculty at Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, and Harvard Medical School. Women make up a majority of the tenure-track faculty in the School of Education and Harvard Divinity School.
