The First Woman President of Warren Wilson College in North Carolina

The board of trustees of Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina, has named Lynn M. Morton as the eighth president of the educational institution. When she takes office on July 1, she will be come the first woman to serve as president of Warren Wilson College.
Warren Wilson College, located just east of Asheville, enrolls about 800 undergraduate students and less than 100 graduate students. Women make up 60 percent of the undergraduate student body.
Dr. Morton has spent 27 years on the faculty at Queens University of Charlotte. Since 2014, she has been serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Morton is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she double majored in English and history. She holds a master’s degree in British literature from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Ph.D. in Renaissance and Medieval British literature from the University of South Carolina.
