The main campus of Brenau University is in Gainesville, Georgia, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta. There are 1,700 students in the university’s undergraduate programs and about 1,100 students in graduate degree programs. The residential undergraduate college is open only to women.
The university recently signed an agreement with Anhui Business College in China. Under the agreement, women will complete three years of training in China and then transfer to Brenau University to complete bachelor’s degrees in business administration in two years. Students will have the option of concentrating in finance, organization management, or accounting. Up to 30 new Chinese students each year will participate in the program.
Previously, Brenau established similar 3+2 programs for Chinese students in English and early childhood education. Ed Schrader, president of Brenau University, stated that “the Chinese students that we have had thus far perform outstandingly in the classroom. All of them made the dean’s list or merit list in their first semester, most of them with 4.0 grade point averages. They’re engaged in campus and community activities and they seem to be adjusting well to the small college environment that is vastly different to what they have experienced in their home universities.”
As part of the agreement, Brenau University will send faculty members to China to help prepare students for transferring to Brenau.
