New York University’s Bei Wu Honored by the International Association for Dental Research

Bei Wu, Dean’s Professor in Global Health and a professor of nursing at New York University, received the 2017 Distinguished Scientist Award for Geriatric Oral Research from the International Association for Dental Research. The award is reserved for individuals who have conducted original and important research in any of the basic, clinical or epidemiological sciences associated with geriatric oral research.

Dr. Wu’s research focuses on how cognitive decline in older adults impacts oral health. At New York University, she also serves as director of global health and aging research and as director of research for the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing.

Before joining the faculty at NYU, Dr. Wu was the Pauline Gratz Professor of Nursing and professor of global health at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She is a graduate of Shanghai University where she majored in law. She earned a Ph.D. in gerontology at the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
