
Dr. Tromp currently serves as vice provost for the West Campus of Arizona State University in Glendale. She also serves as dean of the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences and as a professor of English and professor of women’s and gender studies at Arizona State. She is the author of Altered States: Sex, Nation, Drugs, and Self-Transformation in Victorian Spiritualism (State University of New York 2006) and The Private Rod: Marital Violence, Sensation, and the Law in Victorian England (University of Virginia, Press, 2000). Dr. Trompe is the editor of Victorian Freaks: The Social Context of Freakery in Britain (Ohio State University Press, 2008).
Professor Tromp is a graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida.
