In Memoriam: Sheila Gaudon, 1933-2017

Sheila Gaudon, professor emerita of romance languages and literatures at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, died on February 19. She was 83 years old.
Professor Gaudon was an expert on the writings of Victor Hugo. She joined the faculty at Wesleyan University in 1970 and taught courses on French literature for 23 years. She served as chair of the department of romance languages and literatures and was director of the Wesleyan Program in Paris.
Dr. Gaudon was a native of Liverpool, England. She held a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester in England and a doctorate from the University of Strasbourg in France.
