In Memoriam: Carol Margaret Vonckx Kaske, 1933-2016

Carol KaskeCarol Kaske, professor emerita of English at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, died last month at Cayuga Medical Center. She was 83 years old.

A native of Elgin, Illinois, Professor Kaske was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. She earned a master’s degree at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Dr. Kaske joined the faculty at Cornell University in 1983. She was promoted to full professor in 1992 and retired from teaching in 2003. Among her books was Spenser and Biblical Poetics (Cornell University Press, 2000).
