Martha Potvin Named Provost at Springfield College in Massachusetts

Martha Potvin was appointed provost and vice president of academic affairs at Springfield College in Massachusetts. The college enrolls about 2,100 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students. Women make up just under half of the undergraduate student body, according to the most recent U.S. Department of Education data.
Dr. Potvin has been serving as executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at Montana State University. She joined the administration at Montana State in 2011. Earlier in her career, she served for 16 years on the biology faculty at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Potvin is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in botany and plant ecology from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Nebraska.
