Four Women Scholars Appointed to Endowed Chairs

Monique Greenwood is the inaugural holder of the John H. Johnson Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She is the former editor of Essence magazine. Greenwood is the founder of Akwaaba Bed and Breakfast Inns.
Greenwood is a magna cum laude graduate of Howard University.
Susan Parrish was selected to hold the John Desmond Kopp Professorship in the Sciences at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. She has been serving as an associate professor of biology at the college. Her research focuses on how RNA levels can be modulated to regulate gene expression during virus infection.
Dr. Parrish holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Regina Barzilay was appointed the Delta Electronics Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Barzilay is the actions editor of the journal Transactions of the Association for Computational Linguistics.
Professor Barzilay received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City.
Tula Goenka has been appointed to the Newhouse Endowed Chair of Public Communications at Syracuse University in New York. She teaches in the department of television, radio, and film. A native of India, Professor Goenka is a documentary filmmaker and the author of Not Just Bollywood: Indian Directors Speak (Om Books International, 2014).
Professor Goenka earned a master’s degree at Syracuse University in 1986.
