Three Women Joining the Faculty at the College of William and Mary This Fall

The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, has announced the hiring of three women as assistant professors. The three women will begin teaching at the college this coming fall.
Andrea Wright will be a new assistant professor of anthropology. She will hold a joint appointment in the department of Asian and Middle Eastern studies. Currently Dr. Wright is a visiting scholar at the Institute for South Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Wright holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in anthropology and history from the University of Michigan. She also earned a master’s degree in social sciences from the University of Chicago.
Elizabeth Raposa will join the psychology department this fall as an assistant professor. Currently, she is an adjunct professor of psychology at the College of William and Mary. Her research focuses on how stress influences development of physical and mental health problems. Dr. Raposa is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she majored in psychology and comparative literature. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Claire McKinney be a new assistant professor of government and gender, sexuality, and women’s studies. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow in American culture studies at Washington University in St. Louis. She has been conducting research in the role of the American Medical Association has played in abortion restrictions. Dr. McKinney is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago.
