Stacey Franklin Jones Resigns as Chancellor of Elizabeth City State University

Stacey Franklin Jones has resigned from her position as chancellor of Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, effective December 31. Dr. Jones has been chancellor for only 15 months. The university has seen enrollments decline by more than 50 percent over the past five years, which has reduced revenues and created financial problems for the university.
Before becoming chancellor of Elizabeth City State University in October 2014, Dr. Jones was a consultant in Washington, D.C. She has served on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. In July 2010, Dr. Jones was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bowie State University in Maryland.
Dr. Jones is a summa cum laude graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C. She holds master’s degrees in numerical science and technical management from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in computer science from George Washington University.
