Milagros Pena is the new dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at the University of California, Riverside. She is the former associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the former director of the Center for Women’s Studies and Gender Research at the University of Florida. Dr. Pena is the author of Latina Activists Across Borders: Women’s Grassroots Organizing in Mexico and Texas (Duke University Press, 2007).
Dr. Pena is a graduate Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. She holds a master of divinity degree from the Union Theological Seminary in New York and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System.
Deborah Berke was named the next dean of the Yale School of Architecture. When she takes on this new role on July 1, 2016, Berke will be the first woman to lead the School of Architecture. Berke has been an adjunct professor of architecture at Yale since 1987 and is the founder of the design firm Deborah Berke Partners in New York. She is the co-editor of The Architecture of the Everyday (Princeton Architectural Press, 1997).
Berke holds two bachelor’s degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and a master of urban planning degree from the City University of New York.
