Emily Drake Elected President of Major Nursing Association

Emily_DrakeEmily Drake, an associate professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Virginia, has been elected president of the American Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses. The professional organization represents more than 350,000 nurses. Dr. Drake will begin her three-year term as president on January 1.

Dr. Drake’s research focuses on high-risk pregnancies, infant development, and breastfeeding. In addition to teaching in the School of Nursing, Dr. Drake holds a clinical position in labor and delivery at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Dr. Drake holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
