Melissa Murray was appointed faculty director of the Center on Reproductive Rights and Justice at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. The center’s stated goal is to “realize reproductive rights and advance reproductive justice by furthering scholarship, bolstering advocacy efforts, and influencing public opinion through innovative, multidisciplinary research, teaching, and convenings.”
Professor Murray joined the faculty at Berkeley Law in 2006. She teaches courses on family law, criminal law, constitutional law, and reproductive rights.
Professor Murray expressed her goals for the center by saying “we hope to continue what we’ve been doing, but on a more expansive scale. We want to create a physical and virtual hub where advocates and scholars can create a community with others who are working on these issues, cross-pollinate ideas, and collaborate on projects.”
Professor Murray is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Yale Law School.
