Priya Ganguli Named the “Outstanding Woman in Science”

ganguliPriya Ganguli, a postdoctoral scholar in marine chemistry and geochemistry at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts, has been selected to receive Doris M. Curtis Outstanding Woman in Science Award from the Geological Society of America. Dr. Ganguli will be honored at the society’s annual meeting in Baltimore this coming November.

Dr. Ganguli is being recognized for her research on the physical and chemical processes that influence mercury dynamics in coastal ecosystems. The Geological Society of America states that “her work has created a rapidly growing area of research.”

Dr. Ganguli is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, where she majored in geological sciences. She holds a master’s degree in earth sciences and a Ph.D. in earth and planetary sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
