In Memoriam: Katharine E. Reichert, 1928-2015

ReichartKatharine E. Reichert, a former physician in the health services department of the University of Massachusetts and the former director of health services at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, died on March 21 at a hospice facility in Amherst. She was 86 years old.

A native of Arnold, Pennsylvania, she became a registered nurse and served in the Nurses Corps of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After serving in Japan, she returned to the United States and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Reichert later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She practiced family medicine in rural New Hampshire before joining the University of Massachusetts in 1966.

Dr. Reichert was the author of the book Primary Care of Young Adults (Medical Examination Publishing, 1983).
