Four Women Appointed to New Faculty Assignments

hicksJanet Froeschle Hicks was named chair of the department of educational psychology and leadership at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She joined the faculty at the university in 2009 after teaching at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.

Dr. Hicks, who was recently named a fellow of the American Counseling Association, holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

mckahnDenise McKahn was promoted to associate professor of engineering at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She was also granted tenure. Dr. McKahn’s research is focused on the development of renewably derived fuel and electricity generation technologies.

Dr. McKahn is a graduate of Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan.

Jennell-VickJennell Vick, an assistant professor in the department of psychological sciences at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, was given the additional responsibility as executive director of the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center.

Dr. Vick holds a master’s degree in communication sciences from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington.

StoelingaSara Ray Stoelinga, a clinical professor on the Committee on Education at the University of Chicago, was promoted to serve as the Sara Liston Spurlark Director of the Urban Education Institute.

Dr. Stoelinga is the co-author of Examining Effective Teacher Leadership: A Case Study Approach (Teachers College Press, 2010) and co-editor of Effective Teacher Leadership: Using Research to Inform and Reform (Teachers College Press, 2007). She holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago.
