Garnett Stokes Named Provost at the University of Missouri

Garnett S. Stokes has been named provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She has been serving as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Dr. Stokes will begin her new role on February 1.
“I am delighted to join the University of Missouri’s leadership team,” Dr. Stokes said. “Mizzou is an extraordinary place, and the potential for greater success and impact on the wonderful educational community there is significant. I look forward to working with everyone on campus to build on the excellence already in place.”
Before accepting her current post at Florida State, Dr. Stokes was dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia. She is a graduate of Carson-Newman University in Jefferson, Tennessee, and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Georgia.
