The Next President of Westchester Community College in New York

Belinda_MilesBelinda S. Miles was appointed president of Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York. The college is a two-year campus of the State University of New York System. Approximately, 14,000 students are enrolled at the college and women make up 52 percent of the student body. Dr Miles is scheduled to begin her new job in January. Dr. Miles will be replacing Joseph Harkin, who is the longest-serving community college president in the nation. He has been president of the college since 1971.

Since 2011, Dr. Miles has served as provost and executive vice president of access, learning, and success at Cuyahoga Community College in Parma, Ohio. Earlier, she was president of the college’s Eastern Campus in Highland Hills, Ohio. She first joined the staff at Cuyahoga Community College in 2000.

Dr. Miles is a graduate of York College of the City University of New York. She earned a master’s degree in educational psychology and a doctorate in higher education organization and leadership development from Teachers College at Columbia University.
