Normandale Community College in Minnesota Names Its Next President

The board of trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has appointed Joyce Ester as president of Normandale Community College in Bloomington. Her appointment is effective on August 2. Normandale Community College enrolls about 15,000 students and women make up 55 percent of the student body.
Dr. Ester was president of Kennedy-King College, one of the seven campuses of the City Colleges of Chicago. Before becoming president of Kennedy-King in 2011, she was associate vice president for student services at Bakersfield College in California. Previously Dr. Ester has held administrative posts at California State University, Fresno and the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Dr. Ester is a graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, where she majored in sociology. She earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in education at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
