College of William and Mary Geologist Wins Two National Awards

Heather Macdonald, Chancellor Professor of Geology at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, has received two national awards for her contributions to education in the earth sciences.
Professor Macdonald won the 2014 Excellence in Geophysical Education Award from the American Geophysical Union. She also received the Robert Christman Award from the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. Among the reasons Dr. Macdonald was honored was her work to increase the number of women in the geosciences.
Professor Macdonald is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
