Joan Yvette Davis Appointed Chancellor of Delgado Community College

Joan-DavisJoan Yvette Davis was named chancellor of Delgado Community College in New Orleans. The two-year, state-operated college enrolls more than 18,000 students and women make up 67 percent of the student body.

Davis has been serving as interim president of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Davis is the former interim chancellor of the Alabama Community College System. She also served as general counsel and vice chancellor for legal and human resources for the system. Before joining the Alabama Community College System in 2002, Davis practiced law for 20 years.

President Davis is a graduate of Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina, and the University of Alabama School of Law.
