Barbara McDonald to Lead Minnesota West Community and Technical College

The board of trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named Barbara McDonald as interim president of Minnesota West Community & Technical College in Granite Falls. The college enrolls about 3,500 students at five campuses and women make up 57 percent of the student body. Dr. McDonald will become interim president on July 1 and serve for one year.
Currently, Dr. McDonald is provost at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She has been provost since 2013 and has been an administrator at the college since 2000. Previously, she served on the faculty at Rainy River Community College in International Falls, Minnesota.
Dr. McDonald is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. She holds a master’s degree from the American University in Cairo and an educational doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
