Janine Janosky assumed the presidency of Richard J. Daley College in August 2019. Throughout her tenure, the Chicago-based community college has improved its enrollment and graduation rates, developed new programs, doubled its grant funding, and established new partnerships with local high schools.

An advocate for rural health nursing, Jeri Dunkin spent over a decade as the Saxon Endowed Chair of Nursing at the University of Alabama.

The R. R. Hawkins Award from the Association of American Publishers recognizes the year's best scholarly publication across all disciplines. This year, the honor was presented to Ieva Jusionyte of Brown University for her book, Exit Wounds: How America's Guns Fuel Violence Across the Border.
